The need for the ANALYSIS project stems from the alarming global impact of deliberate disinformation, which undermines democracy, social cohesion and freedom of expression. The proliferation of fake news also disrupts the flow of credible news, decreasing trust in the media.
At its core, ANALYSIS aspires to support news organizations and professional journalists in mastering news verification through digital learning processes and learning-by-doing strategies. The project aims to create a collaborative knowledge-transfer consortium that will provide high-quality learning opportunities for media professionals, enabling them to tackle the phenomenon of disinformation in Greece, Portugal and Austria.
The key objectives of the programme include:
- Empowering media professionals with hands-on experience of fact-checking to counter disinformation.
- The promotion of digital transformation at both individual and organizational levels, encouraging adaptation to the evolving media field.
The academic partners of the project are the Department of Communication and Media Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens from Greece, the Instituto de Tecnologias Avançadas para a Formação Lda from Portugal and the Universitat Wien from Austria.
The participating news organizations from Greece are the Athenian News Agency – Macedonian News Agency and the media organization Liquid Publishing, from Portugal the Press Association, AIND – Associação Portuguesa de Imprensa and from Austria the National News Agency, Austria Presse Agentur.
