Throughout this module, you will explore various digital tools utilized for spreading disinformation. You’ll gain insights into:
– Recognizing and analyzing the importance of multimedia tools for disinformation;
– Understanding how to use open-source tools (such as Google Toolbox);
– Identifying best practices for verifying images and video analysis!
In each segment, you’ll have access to diverse resources to deepen your understanding. We’ll address key questions like:
– How do multimedia tools, such as images and videos, contribute to the spread of online disinformation?
– How can we identify common tactics used in manipulating images and videos for deceptive purposes?
– What role do open-source tools play in verifying the authenticity of multimedia content?
– What are the steps involved in conducting image verification, and what best practices should be followed?
– How can metadata analysis be used in verifying the authenticity of images and videos?
– What challenges might arise when verifying the authenticity of video content, and how can they be addressed?
Each topic will feature brief introductory videos, either original or sourced from credited sources. Additional resources, such as readings and supplementary videos, will further expand upon the initial discussions. We’ll also conduct one synchronous session, recorded for those unable to attend, and leverage quizzes, forums, and case studies for interactive learning.
